Private Farmhouse Rental for Skanda Shashti in Bangalore

Every year our family feels that skanda shasti is a very important and meaningful festival for us. We care about it deeply. On this day, we think about our inner self and pray. We do strong religious activities like pujas and fasting and feel closer to lord murugan. But as time passed, the loud sounds and fast life of the city made it hard for us to enjoy the festival peacefully. We couldn’t focus properly or feel the same spiritual feeling. We decided to celebrate Skanda Shashti differently this year by renting a private farmhouse rental for skanda shasti in Bangalore. It turned out to be one of our most peaceful and meaningful celebrations ever.

The Significance That Led Us There

Why Skanda Shashti Means So Much to Us

My grandmother was a strong believer in Lord Murugan. Every morning, she would chant out loud prayers called Skanda Sashti Kavacham. She often told us that this festival isn't just about skipping food. It's about fighting our own bad habits, pride, or selfishness and becoming more humble and pure. Her message touched our hearts, and we always remembered it.

For all six days, we fast eat little food and do prayers every day with lots of seriousness and devotion in our family. Lately, the noise, rush and distractions in the city made it hard to focus. The festival started to feel rushed and less meaningful. So we started searching for a calm and private place where we could celebrate peacefully while still keeping our customs and rituals.

Discovering a New Way to Celebrate

One day, my cousin told us just in a normal way that he had rented a farmhouse for someone's birthday party on Kanakapura road, a place near bangalore. Hearing this gave me a new idea. I started thinking what if we celebrate our festival (Skanda Shashti) at a farmhouse instead of at home or in the city? It didn't seem like a usual or traditional thing to do, but it felt like a fun and interesting new idea. That's how we got the idea to rent a private farmhouse for Skanda Shashti in Bangalore.

Planning Our Farmhouse Skanda Shashti

Selecting the Perfect Location

We picked a farmhouse that was located near the area called Bannerghatta, but a little away from the city. The farmhouse was surrounded by green trees, had a small pond with lotus flowers, and had wide open areas with lots of space and fresh air. There was a big shaded area outside the house, like a roofed area without walls. It is the best place to set up a mandap to do the puja for lord murugan. The farmhouse had several rooms where all our family members could sleep and stay comfortable for the night.

Skanda Shashti celebrations in Bangalore felt different this year. Being outside the busy city, the peaceful sounds of nature, like rustling leaves and birds singing, made it feel very spiritual.

Setting Up the Pooja Space

We took our family’s statue of Lord Murugan, made of silver. We decorated it with special items used in Hindu worship.

  1. Sandalwood paste (a fragrant paste used to cool the idol and show respect),
  2. Flowers (to honor the god), and
  3. Vibhuti (sacred ash used to symbolize purity and devotion).

My uncle, who regularly performs religious ceremonies in our family, was in charge of doing the special prayer for Lord Murugan on this day. The kitchen at the farmhouse was big and comfortable. My aunt cooked two traditionals festive dishes:

  1. Pongal (a sweet rice dish made with jaggery and ghee), and
  2. Kozhukattai (sweet dumplings filled with coconut and jaggery).

She made them early in the morning, just the way we usually make them at home during festivals.

In the evening, we lit many oil lamps (called diyas), as is the tradition during pujas. This warm lights filled the whole farmhouse and created a peaceful, glowing, golden atmosphere that felt very special and divine.

The Day of Skanda Shashti

A Spiritual Morning with No Rush

We got up hearing birds, wind and trees, not loud alarm clocks or traffic noises from the city. Because everything was calm and quiet, it was easy to feel peaceful, read the holy book about lord murugan and get ready for the pooja. We were able to fast with full attention and less distraction, making it more meaningful. The calm and quiet place made us feel more connected to God and feel the spiritual energy more strongly.

This Skanda Shashti celebration in Bangalore was special for us because it was all our own and went perfectly with what we wanted.

Midday Reflections and Bhajans

After we completed the main religious ritual (puja), my nieces (daughters of my siblings) arranged a small event where they sang devotional songs (bhajans) in a peaceful place under a neem tree. There were no loud speakers or fancy platforms, just their natural voices, the sound of a tambourine (a small hand-held musical instrument) and sincere feelings of worship and faith. The moment felt very pure and deeply spiritual to me. I hadn't experienced such a close, peaceful connection to God in many years. My grandma was quietly smiling, her eyes shut, completely absorbed in the songs and the peaceful feeling.

Evening Ritual and Family Feast

In the evening, we ended our day-long fasting by eating prasadam, holy food offered to God during the puja and then eaten by devotees. Our dinner was served in a traditional way, on banana leaves. The food was not fancy—it was cooked at home with love, using simple ingredients, like how our elders used to make it. All of us sat together and spoke about the story of Surapadman the demon whom Lord Murugan defeated.

We also remembered and talked about how we used to celebrate Skanda Shashti when we were kids. We didn't feel any rush to go home, and we were not disturbed by the usual city noise like traffic, phone calls, or other interruptions. We had free, quiet time to spend together. We're usually so busy that we don't realize how important this time with loved ones is, until we get it again.

How the Farmhouse Transformed Our Festival Experience

A Sacred Space Away from Chaos

The main thing we noticed was how the overall feeling or mood changed completely. Unlike the constant noise and movement of the busy city, the farmhouse gave us the mental space to focus. The city is always loud and busy, but the farmhouse was peaceful. It helped us think clearly and stay calm. Instead, we heard only natural sounds like birds and leaves, which helped us focus on praying. Because it was so quiet and peaceful, our feelings of love and respect for god became even stronger. The atmosphere was so spiritual and pure that it felt like Lord Murugan was really there with us.

The Freedom to Celebrate on Our Terms

When we celebrate festivals in the city, everything feels hurried. We are always looking at the clock. There is traffic, noise, and limited time, so we can't relax or enjoy the rituals fully. At the farmhouse, we were in charge of everything. There was no pressure from outside, so we could plan things the way we liked. We decided what time to start the puja (worship), how to set up the decorations, and how long we wanted to sing or pray. There was no one to rush us, so everything happened peacefully and naturally. Because we were free to do things our way. We could focus better. We enjoyed each part of the festival more, and it felt more meaningful.

Bringing Generations Together

The big, open space in the farmhouse gave everyone a comfortable area to sit, talk, and spend time together. Older people in the family talked about stories from their past, and the kids were curious and asked questions about Lord Murugan. This kind of family bonding and conversation doesn't usually happen when we celebrate festivals in the crowded and fast-paced city. This experience made us realize that festivals are not only for doing religious ceremonies. They are also about spending time with loved ones and creating happy memories together.

What We Learned From This Experience

Book Early, Especially During Festival Months

We booked our farmhouse a month ahead of time. It's smart to book early because many get reserved for parties or religious events. Visiting the site helped us check if the kitchen was clean, if there was enough water, if there was backup electricity, and if the prayer area was suitable.

Keep It Simple but Sacred

Forget about grand decorations or huge crowds. A small, heartfelt gathering with your closest family is all you need. The most important things are the prayer, the food, and enjoying each other's company.

Blend Celebration with Staycation

The festival became a refreshing escape because we got to spend the night at the farmhouse. We even stayed an extra day to relax and tidy up, The main highlights were the puja (worship), the delicious food, and simply being together with everyone.

Conclusion

That one decision—to move our Skanda Shashti celebration away from the chaos of the busy city—changed the way we now observe festivals. If you’re looking for a serene, meaningful, and intimate celebration, a Private Farmhouse Rental for Skanda Shashti in Bangalore could offer just that. It allowed us to blend devotion, family, and peace into one unforgettable festival experience—a tradition we now plan to continue every year.
