Getaways: Finding the Perfect Farmhouse for Rent in Bangalore This Monsoon

When it rains in banglore, it feels so peaceful and beautiful that you just want to stop all your work, phone calls, and related works, and take a break. The sky looks cloudy and dramatic, the roads become shiny with rain water and simple things like reading a book, drinking tea and watching the rain start to feel better and more relaxing than finishing office work. This is what me and my three best friends actually felt and experienced last month. We were extremely tired, mentally and physically. We felt drained and had no energy left. We were overloaded with non stop online meetings, stuck in traffic, and getting too many phone calls or messages. So, we decided to go away from the busy life. We wanted peace, quiet, and to spend time with each other again in a calm place.

That’s how we unexpectedly found a weekend that was very calm, relaxing, and made us feel happy deep inside. Now, I will tell you what happened to us during that weekend. Getaways: Finding the Perfect Farmhouse for Rent in Bangalore This Monsoon.

When The City Got Too Loud

We started talking like we usually do by sending messages in our friends group chat. My friend Ravi looked so tired and wanted to spend a memorable time with us. So I said let's take a trip this weekend. That one message was enough to make all of us agree we needed a break and wanted to go. In just one hour, we started searching online for nice places near Bangalore to visit during the rainy season. We didn’t want to travel too far from the city. We wanted a calm, green place, maybe with a swimming pool. We didn’t want a place that felt like a regular hotel. We wanted something more private and cozy.

A private farmhouse for rent near Bangalore during monsoon sounded just right.

The Search: Too Many Options, Too Little Time

We thought it would be easy to find a good farmhouse, but it turned out to be more difficult than we expected. We saw many options online. Some farmhouses were too expensive and stylish, some didn't look trustworthy, and some looked great but were already booked or had no reviews to know if they were really good. At last, we found a farmhouse with 2 bedrooms, a hall, and a kitchen 2BHK in a natural and simple style, located near Kanakapura road. The photos of the place didn't look fancy or edited, but they felt real and honest. The house had red floors, a roof that slanted down with tiles, green open space and a view of a water pond. The listing also said the farmhouse had games to play inside (like board games or carrom) and covered seating areas where you can sit safely even if it’s raining. We were convinced. We liked it so much that we immediately decided to book.

Our Farmhouse Weekend Begins

We started our trip from Bangalore early in the morning. The sky was full of grey clouds, showing signs that it might rain. The road journey was easy and comfortable. Light rain kept falling along the way, almost like it was coming with us like a friend. After driving for 60 kilometers, we turned off the main road onto a small, rough road made of stones. This path had pretty wildflowers growing on both sides. When the farmhouse gate opened, we saw the peaceful place we had booked. It felt like a perfect escape for the rainy season.

A man named Prasanna, who takes care of the farmhouse, was standing there when we arrived. He had made fresh hot filter coffee and was waiting to welcome us. The air around the farmhouse had a natural smell like wet soil and then fresh, lemony scent of lemongrass plants. It felt very clean and nature-like. The farmhouse didn't have fancy things like a 5 star hotel. But still, it felt just right, comfortable, peaceful, and everything we needed for a relaxing trip. The place had a traditional, simple style (not modern), gave us a cozy feeling (warm), and it was very calm and quiet (peaceful).

First Hour: No Wifi, Only Wind

The moment we reached the farmhouse, we saw that our mobile signal was weak or not working well. But to our surprise, we actually didn't feel bad about it. We put our phones away, removed our shoes, and started walking without footwear on the wet grass. All around the farmhouse, there were jackfruit trees, hibiscus plants, and birds making cheerful sounds. These birds looked happy and free, not at all bothered by the noise or busyness of city life.

Very quickly, our friend Ravi found a cricket bat, and we began playing a fun and playful game of cricket inside the house. We weren't serious about it, it was just for fun. Since we were indoors, we didn’t have real cricket equipment. So, we used a chair as the stumps. The sofa edges were used to mark the limits of the playing area. But we argued (in a fun way) about where exactly those boundaries were. Playing like this reminded us of our school days, when we used to play simple games with whatever was available and had a lot of fun without worrying too much.

That evening, we relaxed on the porch area of the farmhouse and quietly enjoyed watching the rain fall normally and make a soft tapping sound on the roof. Prasanna (the caretaker) brought us some warm fried snacks (pakoras) and hot tea (chai) to enjoy while we sat. We started playing antakshari using famous old songs. At that moment, I understood that this trip didn’t need any fixed schedule or plan—it was perfect just the way it was, relaxed and natural.

Rain, Firewood, and Big Conversations

We thought it wouldn't be possible to have a bonfire because it was raining. But luckily, the farmhouse had a place for fire that was covered from the rain. We found some dry firewood, and with some effort (and luck), we were able to light a strong, crackling fire by 8 o’clock in the evening. We sat around the fire, wearing warm shawls, and holding metal cups filled with hot soup. While sitting there we had meaningful, funny, and very real talks. Something we hadn't done in a long time.

We slept very peacefully and deeply, just like babies who feel safe and calm. The rooms didn't have any fancy things. Instead, they had thick, warm blankets to keep us comfortable, and the lights were soft and not too bright so the room felt calm and peaceful. At night, we could hear raindrops falling outside. These sounds were soft and relaxing—like a lullaby (a gentle song sung to help babies sleep). These natural sounds helped us fall asleep easily.

Morning Bliss and Mangoes

The next morning felt magical, like something from a dream. I opened my eyes and heard birds singing. I didn't wear shoes—I walked outside on the grass with bare feet again. It was not raining anymore, and the small water body next to the house looked very beautiful, like an artist had painted it. We made tea, took some light chairs we could carry, and sat down quietly. We didn't play any songs, didn't look at our phones, and didn't even talk to each other. We were simply present in that moment, feeling peaceful and alive, without doing anything.

After some time, we played badminton on the grass, which was wet from the rain. Because it was slippery, we fell or nearly fell a few times while playing and we laughed a lot. We found some mangoes growing naturally on nearby trees, and we picked them with our hands. We sat and tried to draw pencil sketches around us. My drawing was not good at all, but it didn't matter, we were just having fun. While we were eating lunch, one of us finally shared what we were all feeling. We agreed that this was the most enjoyable and relaxing trip we have taken in a very long time.
