Experience the Joy of Hariyali Teej in a Bangalore Farmhouse Rental
I came to bangalore for my job two years ago. Since then, I have had the special feeling and happiness of celebrating north indian festivals, which I used to enjoy When I was younger. Hariyali Teej is one of those festivals. It is celebrated during the rainy season with lots of green decorations. People keep fasting, apply henna, sing old cultural songs, and there is a lovely feeling of togetherness and traditions. This time, I didn't want to just sit and remember the old celebrations sadly. I wanted to try something new and exciting. I called some of my friends to join me. Some of them were from the north and some of them from south India who wanted to learn more about the festival. and we planned a unique way to Experience the joy of Hariyali Teej in a Bangalore farmhouse rental.
What began as a small idea soon turned into one of the most heartwarming and culturally rich experiences I’ve ever had in the city.
Finding the Right Setting
Everything began with one simple idea or thought. The idea was: Why don't we celebrate the Teej festival just like we used to do in our hometown? We can enjoy the festival outside, not inside closed buildings. Celebrating in a natural, green place full of plants and trees, like in villages or gardens back home. We looked around for some days, maybe online or by asking people to find a good place. Finally, we found many farmhouses near Bangalore that were available to rent, and they were perfect for celebrating Teej.
These farmhouses were not inside the city, but a little far outside, in quieter areas. Most of the good farmhouse options were located in areas called Sarjapur and Devanahalli, which are popular spots on the edge of Bangalore. We came across several Bangalore farmhouse rentals for Teej celebrations on the outskirts of the city — especially around Sarjapur and Devanahalli. We picked a pretty farmhouse. It was near Kanakapura Road. It had yummy mango trees and a big, green yard. There was even a little pond. The farm house felt old-fashioned but also comfy and nice. It was just right for the Teej party.
Prepping for the Festival
Seven days before the festival day, everyone in the group was already feeling happy, eager and looking forward to the celebration. We shared the work so everything would be well planned.
One friend took care of decorations (like flowers, lights, etc.)
Another friend took responsibility for arranging the food
I was responsible for organizing the religious part (puja) and traditional festival activities.
We brought green sarees, colourful bangles, and chunris from online shopping. We also planned to set up a traditional swing called jhoola, trying it with ropes between two trees at the farmhouse where the celebration would happen. The person who owned or managed the farmhouse (the host) was very helpful and friendly. They supported us with arrangements and also gave us marigold flowers. Most Bangalore farmhouse rentals for Teej celebrations provide flexible decoration options, and that makes our lives easier.
The Celebration Day
On the day of the Hariyali Teej festival, In the morning, all of us got into our cars and went to the farmhouse we booked. The rainy season had made everything around the farmhouse look fresh, green, and beautiful.
The smell of the wet mud after the rains made me remember my childhood days. As soon as we reached, we began preparing a small worship space in the garden where we could perform the religious ceremony for Teej. I had brought small statues of lord shiva and Goddess parvathi made of clay, and we used banana leaves and fresh flowers to decorate the puja area in a traditional way.
After setting up, all the women came together to take part in the usual Teej customs like staying without food(fasting), putting henna (mehendi) on their hands, and singing old-style cultural songs. Some of our friends had never celebrated this festival before, but even they happily participated and enjoyed it.
There was a beautiful swing hanging under a neem tree at the farmhouse. We decorated it with flower garlands, and everyone took of fun and festive photos there. What really surprised me (in a good way) was how everything felt so perfect — the peaceful, quiet surroundings, the comfort of doing our rituals without anyone disturbing us, and the happiness of enjoying the festival in the fresh air outside.
That’s the magic of Bangalore farmhouse rentals for Teej celebrations — you feel at home, yet surrounded by nature’s peace.
Food, Dance, and Fun
When it became evening and the sun began to go down, we ended our day fast by eating what we had made ourselves. One of our friends made special sweets called ghewar (a honeycomb-like dessert) and kheer (a sweet rice pudding). Along with that, we ate puri (fried bread), aloo sabzi (potato curry), and cucumber raita (a yogurt-based side dish with cucumber). Having our meal together, sitting in the garden with nothing above us except the sky, felt very peaceful and special.
After eating, we played traditional Teej music using a portable speaker and danced without shoes on the grass, which was wet from rain or dew. Even the guys in the group started dancing with us and tried to follow our dance steps in a fun and playful way. We laughed a lot, created lovely memories together, and the joy of celebrating an old cultural festival in a modern place was so special that it is hard to explain in words. One more nice thing we did was plant small baby trees before we left. The person who owned the farmhouse asked us to do this, and we felt happy to join in. Planting trees made sense because Teej is a festival that honors plants, rain, and the natural world. Doing simple eco-friendly things, like planting trees, added more meaning and happiness to our day.
Reflections and Bonding
What surprised me the most was how close and emotionally attached everyone felt both with one another and with our traditional customs. Some of my friends from south India had never celebrated Teej before, and they said it felt similar to their own festivals like Pongal or Onam. We became closer because we all valued and enjoyed celebrating traditional festivals together, with love and excitement.
We understood that even though we celebrated in a farmhouse we had rented, the festivals still felt real and meaningful. Actually, using a rented space gave us the freedom to plan and decorate everything just the way we wanted — from how the place looked, to how we performed rituals, chose music, and what we cooked. It felt like we had brought a small part of our home city and culture into Bangalore, making the celebration feel warm and familiar.
This is why Bangalore farmhouse rentals for Teej celebrations are becoming so popular — they allow people to reconnect with their roots in a refreshing and peaceful environment.
Conclusion
Celebrating Hariyali Teej at a farmhouse near Bangalore was a very special and meaningful experience for us. It wasn't just a festival; it showed us that even though Bangalore is a busy tech city, old traditions can stay alive and strong if you give them the right place. The sound of birds, the light rain, swinging on the decorated swings, and everyone sharing in the happiness made it a truly magical time.
If you're in Bangalore and want to celebrate Hariyali Teej in a traditional way, but away from the city's buildings, renting a farmhouse is a great option. It's a perfect way to Experience the joy of Hariyali Teej in a Bangalore farmhouse rental
