Celebrate Raksha Bandan at Farmhouse Rental in Bangalore

This year on Raksha bandhan, we didn't want to celebrate like normal like we always do. But this time we want to do something special like never before in our family by vacating this crowded place or noisy city. Because everyone in my family was always busy, my whole family was working in different sectors.

So we chose a short trip, where we could have more space to rest, spend time with each other, and enjoy Raksha Bandhan without any stress or rush. That’s how we chose to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at farmhouse rental in Bangalore—and honestly, it turned out to be one of the most heartwarming and memorable Rakhi celebrations we've ever had.

How the Idea Started

My sister was the first person to give the idea that we should leave the city and go somewhere else to celebrate raksha bandhan this year. She asked, why don't we rent a farmhouse instead of doing it at home?. We all liked her idea because it sounded fun. We wouldn't have to quickly clean our home, there would be no loud sounds nearby, and we could decorate and plan in our own ways at the farmhouse. Our parents also really liked this idea. They were happy because the farmhouse was big enough for all our relatives to come and celebrate with us, so the whole family could be together in one place. We searched online and booked a beautiful private farmhouse for family celebration on the outskirts of Bangalore.

The Perfect Setup at the Farmhouse

We reached the farmhouse. The farmhouse was so beautiful, and also the pictures of the farmhouses were so beautiful. There were lots of healthy green plants and trees everywhere. The place looked very fresh and natural. There was a big open space covered with grass, perfect for playing or relaxing. The rooms were warm, comfortable, and inviting, just right for resting or sleeping. There was a small, open structure with a roof and we thought it would be the perfect place to do our Raksha Bandhan. The farmhouse also had a swimming pool and a place where we could grill food and enjoy a BBQ meal. It was a private farmhouse for family celebration that felt like our own mini resort for the day.

Living in the city can be stressful because of loud traffic. After many months of that, a calm and quiet place felt very good and relaxing. In the city, you usually hear car horns, which may be a disturbance for the whole family. But at the farmhouse, you could hear the birds' sounds, fresh green grass smell, fresh air like morning. It made us feel happy and relaxed. My sister and I looked at one another without saying anything. Just from that look, we both understood that we were happy with our decision to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at the farmhouse. It was the best idea.

Our Rakhi Day Begins

We got out of bed early in the morning and began making the outside sitting space look pretty by hanging small lights, strings of flowers, and lighting small lamps. The younger children in our family had the job of blowing balloons and playing songs. Because of this, everyone was laughing, and the kids were dancing in a funny way.

At 10 in the morning, everyone in the family had changed into their special clothes for the celebrations. My sister tied the rakhi in the open garden which made me feel so happy and she gave aarthi to me and sweet. I touched her legs, which is the traditional way in india meaning which brings good luck if we touch our elders feet. And I gave her an Iphone as a gift.

She felt so happy and gave me a small hug with love. our parents were happily watching us. Even though it wasn’t a big or fancy setup, the moment felt very emotional and special. After completing the rakhi rituals, we took many photos together in beautiful spots at the farmhouse: on the grass, near the swimming pool, and even on the swing. These happy moments made us pause and feel thankful for having such a loving family and time together.

Family Fun, Games, and Food

The rest of the day was very enjoyable, we had a lot of fun doing different things.

We played some traditional games from our childhood. They are:

  1. Antakshari, a singing game,
  2. Dumb charades, a game where you act silently,
  3. and cricket in the open space.

My mother and Dad cooked a delicious lunch. The food included:

  1. Biryani (a spicy rice dish),
  2. Paneer (Indian cottage cheese curry),
  3. Kheer (a sweet milk and rice dessert), and
  4. Chocolate cake made by my sister.

In the evening, we made a bonfire, sat around it, and talked. We shared:

  1. stories.
  2. Funny or sweet memories from our childhood, and
  3. Playful teasing and jokes.

At one moment, my father felt very happy and said this is the real joyful family festival. Nowadays, because everyone is busy with work, school, and phones, it’s hard to spend real, meaningful time together as a family. Staying at the farmhouse gave us a break from our busy lives. We could relax, spend time together, and enjoy being around each other without stress or distractions.

Why We’ll Do It Again

When I remember that day, I feel like we won't want to celebrate rakhi at home again in the usual way. The farmhouse expereince was much better compared to our homes. The farmhouse was not just a big place, it also helped us feel free, relaxed, and away from the stress of daily life. Every family member enjoyed the day in their own way:

  1. The children played and had fun running everywhere.
  2. The older family members sat together, talked calmly, and rested.
  3. We (brothers and sisters) spent time laughing, talking, and enjoying each other's company.

Also, because it was a private farmhouse for family celebration, we didn’t worry about disturbing neighbors or sticking to formalities. We danced, sang, played music loud, and celebrated without limits.

Tips from Our Experience

If you’re thinking of doing the same, here are a few things we learned that can make your Rakhi farmhouse celebration smoother:

  • Book early: Nice farmhouses near Bangalore, especially in kanakapura road or nandi hills are very popular, and many people book them fast during festivals.
  • Choose one with a kitchen: Cooking your family’s favorite dishes together adds to the joy.

  • Bring your own decor: Simple items like fairy lights, paper lanterns, or even old dupattas make the place feel festive.

  • Plan a photo spot: We made a DIY photo booth using marigold garlands and it was a hit.

The Little Things Made It Special

I really liked this one special time when my sister and I sat outside on the front part of the farmhouse, after we finished eating dinner. My sister quietly said, This is the best Raksha Bandhan ever. I could tell that she is very happy. This celebration was not fancy or showy. It was simple, calm, and special because we were all together and had time to feel close for my family. Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the deep relationship between siblings, happy moments, and love. The farmhouse was the perfect place where we could feel all of these things, closeness, joy, and emotion—without any noise or pressure.

Conclusion
