Celebrate Bonding Beyond Walls: Private Farmhouse for Bhai Dooj in Bangalore

A Festival That Deserves More Than Just a Room

In my family, Bhai Dooj has always been a small and sweet celebration. We do the tilak ceremony, eat some sweets, and share happy moments. But this time, I wanted the day to feel more special. I didn't want something big, fancy, or shiny. I only wanted a peaceful and open place. A place where we could make memories, enjoy small happy moments, and even enjoy the quiet times where we sit together and feel happy without needing to talk.

Celebrate Bonding Beyond Walls: Private Farmhouse for Bhai Dooj in Bangalore

That’s when the idea struck me—why not book a private farmhouse for Bhai Dooj in Bangalore?

"It wasn’t just going to a new place. It helped us see the festival in a whole new way."

The Plan That Turned Into a Memory

I decided what we would do for Bhai Dooj, and I discussed the idea with my little sister, Nisha. Usually,Nisha is the one who makes all the plans in our family. But this time, I was the one who decided everything and led the planning. I rented a private farmhouse close to Bangalore. Even though it’s nearby, it feels completely different—peaceful and far away from city life.

It had everything we needed:

  • Open green lawns
  • A warm swimming pool
  • A simple kitchen
  • A verandahs with wooden chairs
  • And peaceful silence.

The Day We Left the City (and Our Phones) Behind

We arrived at the farmhouse early in the morning on the day of Bhai Dooj. As soon as my parents, my sister Nisha, and I got out of the car, We could smell the natural, fresh air of the soil and nearby mango trees. The weather was fresh and slightly cold, but the sun was shining brightly. It felt refreshing. It was such a beautiful and peaceful morning that we wished we could stop time and enjoy the moment for longer.

After we made and ate a small breakfast, Nisha and I arranged the plate used for the Bhai Dooj ceremony by ourselves. There was a small, open hut near a pond with lily flowers at the farmhouse, and we decided to do the Bhai Dooj ceremony there.

I was sitting while my sister Nisha was putting the ceremonial red mark (tikka) on my forehead, which is part of the Bhai Dooj tradition. There were no cars or city noises around us. No one was pressing the doorbell like at home, where people often come and go. No one was interrupting us by asking us to come to other rooms or do something else. Only peaceful sounds of nature, like the wind and leaves moving gently.

The Real Moments That Made It Special

1. Cooking Together

Normally, for Bhai Dooj, we order food from outside. But this time, We made the food ourselves. We decided that the whole family would make the food together. My mom cooked parathas, my sister nisha made pakoras, and I prepared the tea. It might seem like a simple thing to do, but it felt really special and meaningful. Making food in a large outdoor kitchen, While hearing everyone laugh and have fun in the yard, That feeling was truly unforgettable and wonderful.

2. Game Time

We brought games like carrom and playing cards with us, but instead, we started singing songs (antakshari) while sitting under a tree. My father, who is usually very quiet and serious, even joined in and sang old songs by Kishore kumar. It reminded me of being a kid again, but this time there was no school or homework to worry about.

3. Pet-Friendly Joy

Our dog, Bruno (a labrador), was really, really happy. Many private farmhouses near Bangalore allow you to bring pets, and this one had a wall or fence around the yard to keep pets safe. Bruno ran around, played in the grass, and even sat quietly with us while we did the Bhai Dooj ceremony (tilak). For the first time on Bhai Dooj, we didn’t have to leave Bruno at home or ask anyone else to take care of him.

Sunset, Silence, and a Sibling’s Bond

In the evening, the sky changed color and became orange because the sun was setting. We were sitting outside on the porch and slowly drinking tea. Nisha looked at me and asked, "Why didn't we plan something like this earlier?" I didn't know what to say or how to explain why we never did it before. I only knew one thing—it felt much nicer than going to a restaurant or celebrating in our flat.

There’s something about private farmhouses near Bangalore—Private farmhouses take away all the loud sounds and things that disturb you (like traffic, TV, phones, etc.). Only your loved ones are there with you—like your family or close friends. You get to create special memories that will stay with you in the future.

More Than Just a Place—A Feeling

We stayed at the farmhouse overnight, and the next day, we felt sad to go because it was so nice and peaceful. We ate our morning meal in the open air, Walked with no shoes on the wet grass, and decided we would do this every year from now on. This trip was not only about celebrating the Bhai Dooj festival. It was about taking a break from our busy lives and relaxing. It was about truly spending time with your brothers or sisters, not just taking pictures together, but enjoying every moment. looking at each other and understanding each other without saying anything.
